ACADEMIC PROGRAM

The ITESM comprises Mexico’s largest and most diversified private university system, with over 96,000 students on 33 different campuses. Students on the OUS program may study at one of four campuses in the ITESM system: the main campus in Monterrey; the Guadalajara campus; the Queretaro campus; or the Cuernavaca campus either for a semester or an academic year. Each campus offers Spanish language coursework from basic to advanced levels, a variety of courses designed for foreigners, and regular university courses in a wide range of disciplines for those with sufficient Spanish language proficiency. ITESM-Campus Monterrey has been rated as one of the top business schools in Latin America, and students may take courses in English on business in Latin America and the international context. Certificate programs in Mexican Studies, Political Science, Latin American Studies, or International Business are also offered. The Campus Monterrey is accredited in the United States by SACS, AACSB (for business), and by ABET (for engineering).

Host University Descriptions

Campus Monterrey was the first campus in the network initiated in 1943. With its over 19,000 students, Campus Monterrey is the flagship campus hosting the widest array of academic coursework, research centers, and facilities of the 33 campuses.

Campus Cuernavaca is now housed in a modern complex in a suburb of Cuernavaca. With a student population of about 2000 students (and growing!), Campus Cuernavaca offers students wishing to concentrate on Spanish language skills and Mexican culture unique opportunities to integrate in this intimate campus setting.

Campus Guadalajara is located in Mexico’s second largest city with a population of approximately 4 million. Founded in 1991 on the outskirts of the city, Campus Guadalajara is a beautiful campus with substantial green areas and striking modern architecture. In addition to an array of Spanish language and culture courses, Guadalajara offers students courses in international relations, communication, engineering, computer science, business, the arts and basic sciences, and architecture.

Campus Queretaro, located in one of Mexico’s most beautiful colonial cities, has a student enrollment of approximately 5,000 students. With Spanish language and culture courses as a basis of the international student curriculum, courses in business, engineering, communications, international relations and food science are also available.

Registration and Credits

Students participating in this program will be registered at their home university in Oregon and will receive home campus credits for courses taken at any of the ITESM campuses listed. Students’ course work will be reviewed and evaluated by appropriate academic departments at their home institutions. Students must keep detailed records of course outlines, reading lists, exam results, and other work completed to facilitate accurate evaluation by their home university academic departments.
Students are advised to consult with their academic advisor about their plans to study in the Mexico-ITESM program. Students wishing to earn major or minor credits for courses taken at ITESM are strongly advised to be in frequent communication with their advisor to determine what’s possible.
Because of the nature of this program, courses and credits are applied after completion of the program.
