Overall Value of the Experience

“I love Mexican culture altogether. It’s absolutely amazing.”

“Stay for a year if you can! One semester is okay, but a full academic year really gives you the chance to know Mexico.”

“My experience is Mexico was outstanding. I improved my language abilities in Spanish much more rapidly than I ever anticipated.”

“Traveling on the weekends was a wonderful way to get to know the whole diversity of Mexico. We just didn’t realize what an amazing place Mexico is.”

Academic Program

“My professors at the Tec were outstanding. My language teacher helped me perfect my grammar and I returned to Oregon speaking better Spanish than I ever thought possible.”

Living in Mexico

The Location

“My heart longs to be back in Mexico. The Mexicans have this warm, care-free way of living life that is extremely contagious. My Mexican friends held their families in the highest regard and I truly admired that. Their families went out of their way to make me feel welcome in their home and that is something I will never forget.”

Accommodations

“I had the opportunity to live in the dorms while studying in Monterrey. It was because of that experience that I met my two closest Mexican friends who are now like sisters to me. The dorms are not only a great place to make friends, but they also challenges you to use your Spanish on a daily basis.

On-Site Support

“I found I had to be a little more independent and figure things out for myself. However, if I needed any help with academic issues, housing or just figuring out cultural things, there was always someone to turn to either in the international office, or in the dorms”
