Mexico

Introduction to ITESM

Join the many Oregon students who have for years enjoyed the heritage, people, architecture, and natural beauty of our nearest neighbor to the south. Mexico offers sunshine, blue seas, crystal-white beaches, jungles, mountains, the fascinating remains of ancient cultures, and a colorful mix of contemporary cultures and customs. Studying in Mexico offers you the opportunity to bring relevance and reality to your classroom experience by improving your Spanish language skills and deepening your understanding of Mexico, yourself and your own country.

Highlights

  • Mexico’s proximity to the U.S. makes it easy to explore the various regions of this diverse and fascinating nation.
  • The ITESM, also called the “Tec” is recognized as a prestigious and high quality institution of higher education. Some of the Tec’s partners in the U.S. include Carnegie Mellon University, UC Berkeley, University of Texas-Austin, and Purdue University.
  • Oregon students have several different locations to choose from for their ITESM Mexico study experience. Monterrey, Cuernavaca, Guadalajara and Queretaro* provide diverse opportunities to study in different parts of Mexico, on different sized campuses and yet with similar curricula.
  • The rewards of studying in Mexico are significant! Not only will your language skills improve, but your understanding of the richness and diversity of Mexico’s cultures will bring your awareness of Mexico’s accomplishments and its potential to a new level. Our relationship with Mexico depends on informed and educated individuals who understand the complexity of this nation of 107 million inhabitants.
  • Consider: Oregon’s fastest growing minority group is Hispanic; Latin America is one of the most important market regions for the U.S.; and professionals in education, the health sciences, business, and human services will be well-served with Spanish language proficiency.

The Oregon University System International Programs are cooperative programs to which all students in public universities in Oregon and select private partner universities have access. The programs are predominately reciprocal exchanges that not only send students abroad, but also bring students to Oregon campuses.  It is through these direct relationships that students and faculty connect with partner institutions abroad and bring diversity to Oregon universities.
